P39 Effects on Accumbal DA in Young vs. Old Mice
Abstract
Dopamine (DA) release decreases in the nucleus accumbens with age. ZMP acts as an endogenous activator of AMPK which is correlated to increased DA signaling. P39, exogenous ZMP, also activates the AMPK pathway. This study examined whether the presence of P39 restored these depleted levels of DA in aged mice.
